The Coupon Trap

Hi Everyone,

If you didn't get a chance to tune in to Lisa Live for my interview with Lisa Hayward, you can view it until Sunday at www.wrpbradio.com. Once the “TV” screen appears on your screen and a picture comes up you’ll see a little button on the bottom, where the TV knobs (remember those old fashioned TV’s that had knobs?), that will say “on demand.” Click on that and then a list of available shows comes up. Select the one that says Monday, 8/17/09 at 8:54 pm. I’m the second guest so you can forward through about 30 minutes if you want.

Lisa did ask me a very important question that I wanted to address here. Her question was if I purchased items just because I have a coupon. This is a big trap many people fall into when beginning the process of using coupons. The ONLY time you should purchase something you don’t need or use just because you have a coupon is if you can get it for free, or almost free and can then donate it to a worthy cause. With the recession, so many charities are in need of donations. This is a wonderful way to donate items without affecting your own budget. However, if you go to the store and buy items that you didn’t plan to buy, you’ve just spent money unnecessarily and you are defeating your purpose of saving money!
