Q: Are there bike paths in Boca? And where can I rent a bike?
Q: Are there bike paths in Boca? And where can I rent a bike?
Boca takes care of its bicyclists. In 2005, the League of American Bicyclists renewed the city's bronze-level designation -- meaning that Boca is committed to investing in bike trails and facilities.
According to the City of Boca Raton’s Web site, our town has some 44 miles of bike lanes and another 30 miles of off-road shared-use paths. Favorite routes include Patch Reef Trail, and Boca to Palm Beach along A1A. Though the information hasn’t been updated in some time, the city does offer bike maps (and pedestrian routes) that can be downloaded and printed. Check it out here
The Web site bikely.com also includes bike paths submitted by cycling enthusiasts. Here's the Boca page
We also suggest that you contact the Boca Raton Bicycle Club (561-391-6109, brbc.clubexpress.com). Their members will know better than anyone where the best paths are in and around Boca.
Bike rental is not a big business in Boca. Your best bet is to check out someplace like Okeeheelee Park (7715 Forest Hill Blvd., West Palm Beach) -- or stay at the Boca Raton Resort & Club and take advantage of their biking tours.
