Three students in and around the Boca area can put a dent in their college bills thanks to scholarships sponsored by Simon Youth Foundation, the charitable arm of the company that runs several area malls, including Town Center at Boca Raton.

The Simon Youth Scholarships program is awarding $1,400 to each of the following students:

• Eduarda Machado of Deerfield Beach is the Town Center at Boca Raton recipient; Machado will be attending Florida State University.

• Maria Jose Vasquez of Sunrise is the Sawgrass Mills recipient; she will be attending Boston College.

• Erika Solloway of Lake Worth is the Boynton Beach Mall recipient; she is attending the University of South Florida.

Simon Youth Foundation, which started in 1998, received the Crystal Star Award of Excellence in Dropout Prevention from the National Dropout Prevention Center for helping more than 8,000 students earn their high school diplomas. The Youth Scholarships program has delivered some $9.5 million in college scholarships to 3,200 students in 42 states—including $1.15 million in 2011.
