A new school year is right around the corner, and with it comes a whole slew of birthday parties, play dates, recitals and dances.  And Saks Fifth Avenue is ready to unveil a new kids collection just in time for all of those adorable activities.

Starting this month (August 2012) Saks Fifth Avenue will welcome Matooka Kids into their stores.

The edgy clothing line provides beautifully sophisticated, yet easy-to-wear, pieces for young fashionistas.

Matooka’s latest collection include 60s retro silhouettes, Herve Leger inspired fabrics (including hounds tooth, leather and lace), and a cool color palette of navy, black, gray, red and purple. Make sure you also decorate your darling daughter in feathers, sequins, marabou fur and flapper-style fringe.

Daniella Kuhl and Yona Elishis are the founders of the little line and the two know something about children’s clothing. The women have eight daughters between them! The moms, who met as neighbors, named their growing brand after the Hebrew word “matok,” which means sweet.

The cute company also donates 10 percent of profit to infertility research and families undergoing assisted reproductive treatments.
