After 21 years in business with no signs of flagging popularity, one of Boca’s iconic restaurants will close for a month to give its dining room a major facelift.

Max’s Grille (404 Plaza Real, 561/368-0080), Dennis Max’s flagship restaurant and one of only two of Mizner Park’s original tenants still there, will close today for renovations by the Fort Lauderdale-based firm of Manhas Design.

When Max’s reopens on Thursday, Sept. 27, expect new floors and furnishings, a new color palette, decorative columns and redoing of the restaurant’s trademark exhibition kitchen. “It will be recognizable as Max's Grille, with a facelift,” said Max Group partner Fred Stampone.

Though the menu will continue to change with the seasons and product availability, no major revisions are planned. So, like me, if you’re a junkie for Max’s mixed berry crème brulee pie, better eat up now before you go into withdrawals.
