Angela, My grandparents used to tell me about how when they met, they just knew they were meant for each other. I used to laugh and think lightly of it until recently - when I met someone who I connected with on a level I can't comprehend. How do I know she feels the same way? - Hopeful

Dear Hopeful,

Congratulations on falling in love.  You are on a roller coaster of emotions wondering if her feelings are as strong as yours.

Take a deep breath. Coming on too strong can scare anyway away, even if her feelings are mutual. Allow the relationship to develop at its own pace.

When you are feeling this strongly about someone,  I know it’s tempting to jump on couches Tom Cruise style and tell the world, but pump the brakes. You don’t want to this relationship to flash and burn.

Even if you don’t listen to any of what I’ve said above (people in the throes of love tend to ignore all rational behavior) whatever you do, DO NOT press her to affirm the same feeling for you.

In the words of the Beatles, “Let it be.”

Dear Angela, how do you get over being cheated on? - Please excuse my bluntness.

Well, allow me to be blunt in my reply. You have two choices. You can keep shuffling through life like the walking wounded, never trusting again, convinced that someone else will do the same thing to you...or you can make a conscious decision to move past it.  I suggest the latter. There are as many reasons one cheats as there are cheaters. Torturing yourself by looking for answers is a waste of time.

Have you ever heard the addage, “The best way to get over someone is to get under someone else?” Ok, so maybe a little aggressive, but I think you get the point.

Being cheated on does not mean you are less of a person or flawed. It’s actually not about you at all. In this case the best medicine is to move on and be happy.
