Miami Open Kicks Off This Sunday

The highly anticipated Miami Open returns to the Magic City this weekend, and with a slew of new tournament activities and tense matchups only a Brightline ride away, there’s never been a better time to enjoy watching the top stars of tennis duel for dominance.

The Miami Open, presented by Itaú and hosted at Hard Rock Stadium, runs March 17-31 and kicks off this Sunday with a family day where attendees can watch players perfect their game on the practice courts and kids (ages 12 and under get in for free) can enjoy face painters, caricature artists, and a magician on the Open’s campus. Other activities include the Baptist Health Skills Zone, where kids can practice their serves with tabletop tennis, and the Piper-Heidsieck Sky View, overhead gondolas that offer a top-down view of the festivities.

As a stop on both the ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 tournament circuits, the Miami Open will feature matches between the top tennis players in the world including local Delray star Coco Gauff, Venus Williams, Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul, and more. Headliners for this year’s tournament are women’s single’s No. 1 Iga Swiatek and men’s single’s No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz following No. 1 Novak Djokovic’s shocking decision to pull out of the tournament earlier today.

Other can’t-miss event’s at this year’s Miami Open include the Miami Open Wheelchair Invitational and Major League Pickleball Showcase, which will be the debut of both wheelchair tennis and pickleball at a 1000 series tournament; the College Clash on March 29 where 23rd-ranked University of Miami will face off against Boston College; and the first-ever reveal of Cadillac’s all-electric CELESTIQ and ESCALADE IQ vehicles.

Foodies and craft cocktail enthusiasts will have their pick of South Florida’s finest fare, with local favorites like Bodega Taqueria y Tequila and American Social setting up shop on the campus alongside Shula Burger, Suviche, Talkin’ Tacos and more. This year’s Miami Open also marks the debut of the tournament’s partnership with fine-dining concept Nobu, lauded by some food critics as the best restaurant in the world. Nobu will be bringing signature dishes such as its Black Cod with Miso, Yellowtail Jalapeno, and Rock Shrimp Creamy Spicy to the Miami Open. For libations, Dobel Tequila Bar, Botran Rum Lounge, No. 3 Gin Courtside Club, and more will be in attendance.
