When someone tells you they are ”getting their hair done,” it’s natural to envision them sitting in a swivel chair, under a crown of foils, with their old split ends scattered about the floor. But the next time, you should ask them what they’re having done.
There is a new trend sweeping the nation in the form of blow-out only salons.
No scissors. No trims. No color. No cuts.
Not your average salons.
Instead these “dry bars,” specialize in shampoos (with scalp massages), braids, updos, and beautiful blow outs, and there are two in our own backyard.
FlyDry Blowdry Bar, which opened in February, is located in Delray Beach’s Pinapple Grove (183 NW Second Ave., 561/800-2379) and boasts it is the first blowdry bar in Palm Beach County.
For $35 you can treat yourself to the standard shampoo, scalp massage, and blow out styling. Choose your final look, perhaps an elegant, straight, polished look, or a head full of playful curls.
FlyDry also specializes in intricate updos, from perfect ponytails to head-turning chignons. The salon also offers full-face (or just eye) makeup application, false lashes, and airbrushing, as well as party packages for brides, bachelorettes or girls who just need a night off from the guys. They do house calls as well.
And now another salon is right on FlyDry’s heels.
Blow And Go will open in Boca Raton at the Polo Shoppes (5030 Champion Blvd., 561/989-8911) in a few short weeks– On Monday, September 24. For October and breast cancer awareness, the dry salon will donate 20 percent from each blowout to Boca Raton Regional Hospital. (You’ll receive a free pink hair extension and goodie bag as well.)
If you’re still scratching your head, wondering where this blow dry craze fits into real life, imagine your rush to get your hair perfect for a date, interview, party or event. Blow dry salons give you a great hair day every time, without the stress and mess.
