If you were looking to break a sweat this Sunday, lace up your sneakers, skip the gym, and head to Florida Atlantic University for the third annual Emb(race) walk/run event.

This special event offers a 5K, 10K and one-mile family walk and is open to people of all ages and abilities.

Emb(race) is hosted by Stand Among Friends, a Boca-based nonprofit that provides educational services and business resources to those with physical and cognitive disabilities. We had the pleasure of interviewing the founder of Stand Among Friends recently for our publication’s Hometown Hero section.

Last year, the race (where everyone really does win) drew almost 1,000 entrants. Whether you run, walk, stroll or roll, everyone is welcomed.

The event will also feature kids’ games, live music, yummy bites, prizes and awards.

The event begins at 7:30 a.m. To register or for more information, please visit www.standamongfriends.org.
