Second Annual Colavita “Motivation Man” ½ Iron & Olympic Triathlon in Downtown West Palm Beach

Game On Sports Marketing, Inc. announced that the Second Annual Colavita Motivation Man ½ Iron & Olympic Triathlon (www.motivationman.com) will be held on Saturday, June 1 in downtown West Palm Beach. The triathlon, presented by Publix, will benefit the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America. The 2012 Motivation Man race attracted over 600 participants and was the first triathlon ever held in downtown West Palm Beach. Organizers are hoping the event will sell out at 1,200 participants this year. The event consists of two races: an Olympic-distance triathlon (.94 mile swim, 25-mike bike, 6.5 mile run) and a Half-Ironman (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run). The event will encompass all of downtown West Palm Beach, including the Intracoastal Waterway, Flagler Drive and Southern Boulevard. Road closures on race-day include 56 miles of Southern Boulevard, from the Intracoastal in West Palm out to Belle Glade; Flagler Drive and parts of South Clematis, Greenwood and Washington. In addition, the Intracoastal will be closed to boat traffic. The action-packed weekend includes the Publix Health and Fitness Expo, as well as a weekend kick-off party and a post-race awards ceremony and after-party at the famous E.R. Bradley’s Saloon on the waterfront. “West Palm Beach is the ideal backdrop for a triathlon, with beautiful roads, the Intracoastal Waterway and the tremendous support from the City and Palm Beach County,” said Steve Tebon, CEO of Game On Sports Marketing. “We look forward to welcoming regional, national and international athletes to beautiful South Florida for the 2013 endurance event.” The Motivation Man Triathlon has received the support of the City of West Palm Beach, the City’s Downtown Development Authority, Palm Beach County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Tourist Development Council and Discover the Palm Beaches. Oxbridge Speed and Conditioning Training

Athletes in all sports and skill levels in 4th-8th grade will benefit from this speed and conditioning training, designed to develop and improve each student’s linear and lateral speed and overall athleticism. The eight-week program will help students improve their performance with specialized training in Oxbridge’s state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, including the vertimax, sleds, cones, speed ladders, and weight room.Tuesdays in June: June 4, 11, 18 and 25; Tuesdays in July: July 9, 16, 23 and 30. Juilliard Jazz Summer Workshop at Oxbridge Academy

Aspiring young jazz musicians will have the opportunity to train with fellows and faculty members from the prestigious Juilliard School during this week-long program at Oxbridge Academy of the Palm Beaches. Held from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, the rigorous program will include a musicianship class, individual practice, ensemble work, big band rehearsal and conclude each day with a jam session. Taught by Juilliard’s Jazz Division faculty and graduate students, the program will concentrate on trumpet, saxophone, trombone, guitar, piano, double bass, electric bass and drums, but no vocals. The cost is $350, and applicants should be dedicated, disciplined and passionate about jazz. June 10-14: grades 6-8; June 17-21: grades 9-12.

Boys and Girls Lacrosse Camp at Oxbridge Academy

The Oxbridge Academy Lacrosse Camp will teach students ages 8-16 the fundamental skills related to the game, while instilling the values of teamwork and sportsmanship. Campers will have the benefit of training under the direction of professional coaches like Stan Ross, who has led teams to compete in six NCAA tournaments and is currently the assistant coach for the Denver Outlaws pro lacrosse team. Session 1: June 10-14; Session 2: July 29-August 2; Monday-Thursday 9am-3:30pm; Friday 9am-12pm. Cost $295 per week.

Boys and Girls Basketball Camp at Oxbridge Academy

The Oxbridge Basketball Camp is a “boutique basketball learning center” where the number of campers is capped, providing a low player/coach ratio. Oxbridge Academy’s academic philosophy of hands-on learning with instruction from exceptional teachers will extend to the courts, making this program the region’s most comprehensive camp experience. Boys will have the opportunity to train with Coach Dwayne McClain, a Villanova University star and former professional player for the Indiana Pacers and Sydney Kings. Girls will be coached by Isaiah Suggs, former head coach at The Governor’s Academy in Byfield, MA who brings more than 30 years of coaching experience.
