In recognition of the tremendous support and connections that 2-1-1 Broward has received from its community partners, the non-profit organization is hosting the 2ND Annual OK Generators Making REAL Connections Breakfast Presented by First Southern Bank, a reception to honor local individuals and organizations that have played key roles in helping 2-1-1 Broward accomplish its goals. This year’s honorees include Jen Klaassens, Gregory Haile, Esq., Marcia Barry-Smith, Berger Singerman, Broward County, Patriot National Insurance Group, the City of Fort Lauderdale and the Sun Sentinel. Broadcasting legend Tony Segreto will serve as emcee for the event. Ronnie Oller is the Event Chair.

Footy's 14th Annual Wing Ding Golf Classic to Benefit Here's Help, Inc.

Once again, longtime South Florida radio legend “Footy”, brings us Footy's 14th Annual Wing Ding Golf Classic “Presented by Badia Spices”, Greenspoon Marder P.A., Publix Super Markets, BB&T, Rick Case Automotive Group and Comcast; to benefit Here’s Help, Inc., a nonprofit treatment agency providing residential programs, outpatient therapy, and team-driven comprehensive community based care for people ages 13 years and older who have co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.

Elvis Crespo, the “King of Merengue,” Comes to Seminole Casino Coconut Creek on May 4

Elvis Crespo, the undisputed king of merengue-fusion, comes to The Pavilion at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek. Tickets for the show are on sale now. With his mastery of the Dominican Republic’s merengue tradition, New York-born and Puerto-Rican raised vocalist Crespo wasted no time in reaching the apex of contemporary Latin music. His debut album, Suavemente, reached the top slot on Billboard’s National Hot Latin Top 40 in 1998 and spawned two record-breaking singles – “Tu Sonrisa” and the title track. He received Billboard Awards for Album of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Group or Duet of the Year and Song of the Year. In 1999, he released his sophomore album, Pintame, which earned him a Grammy and countless Premios Lo Nuestro. His fifth album, Saborealo, released in 2004, spawned the hit single “Hola Enamorada,” which debuted at the top of the Billboard Latin charts and earned him a Latin Grammy. In 2008, he became the first Latin artist to record a live album from Las Vegas, Elvis Crespo Live From Las Vegas. It reached No. 5 on the Latin Tropical Albums. His most recent album, 2012’s Los Monsters peaked the Latin Tropical Charts at No. 3. It produced No. 1 singles including “Yo No Soy Un Monstruo” and “Vallenato En Karaoke.”

The 26TH Annual Rotary Golf Tournament begins at 11:00 a.m. with registration and lunch for the participants. A golf clinic by Bruce Fleisher will be held from 11:15-11:45 a.m. The shotgun start will take place at 12:30 p.m., and a reception will follow the day’s play at 5:30 p.m. The reception will feature dinner with gourmet carving stations, an auction and the awards ceremony.

“Monsters of Rock” Blue Oyster Cult to Perform at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek on May 10

Blue Öyster Cult is best known for such classic songs as “Don’t Fear The Reaper,” “Burnin’ for You,” and “Godzilla.” Since their 1972 self-titled album, the group has sold over 24 million albums worldwide including seven million in the United States. Their current line-up includes long-time members, Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser (lead guitar, vocals) and Eric Bloom (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboard), as well as Jules Radino (drums, percussion), Richie Castellano (keyboard, guitar, vocals) and Rudy Sarzo (bass guitar). In May 1976, came their fourth studio album, Agents of Fortune, including the Top 40 hit single “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” (featured in the classic horror film Halloween). It became their first gold and then platinum album. In 1978 they released their second live album, Some Enchanted Evening, which would eventually become their second million-seller, followed by the studio album Mirrors in 1979. A year later, Blue Öyster Cult released its ninth album, Cultsaurus Erectus, with the gold Fire of Unknown Origin, containing the Top 40 hit “Burnin’ for You,” following in June 1981.

Community Health & Safety Day

Local health and safety experts will be on hand at Pompano Citi Centre during the Community Health & Safety Day on Saturday, May 18th from 10 am to 3 pm. The day will be filled with demonstrations, interactive activities for all ages, and plenty of opportunities to ask questions of participating health care and insurance providers, personal fitness trainers and others. The outdoor festival will kick off with a high-energy 30-minute Zumba class at 10:30 am in the courtyard. There will also be karate, CPR and other demonstrations throughout the day. Bring the kids for kid printing and to meet the Pompano Beach Fire Department, who will be onsite with fire trucks and fire hose games. 2ND ANNUAL DRESS TO IMPRESS FOR THE LLS RUNWAY FASHION SHOW AT SOLITA
