Boca Ballet Theatre presents The Nutcracker

November 24, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - November 26, 2017 @ 2:00 pm

Boca Ballet Theatre announces another amazing year of The Nutcracker with Marleen Forkas presenting this iconic ballet. Marleen and her late husband Harold donated the initial funds for all of the gorgeous back drops and costumes and Marleen has committed to support the production as presenter every year since. Boca Ballet Theatre is so grateful to have her as the Grand Dame of The Nutcracker!

We are pleased to announce our guest artists for the 2017 The Nutcracker.  Both dance at American Ballet Theatre and are Catherine Hurlin as The Sugar Plum Fairy and Jose Sebastian as her Cavalier, they love to dance together and their beautiful Pas De Deux will keep the “magic” alive as they mesmerize the entire audience.

Born in New York City Catherine Hurlin received a full scholarship to the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at American Ballet Theatre under the direction of Franco De Vita. She was awarded the first Angelina Ballerina Stars of Tomorrow Scholarship in 2010 and was a Northern Trust Scholar in 2011. Jose Sebastian, a native of New York City, attended the School of American Ballet for 10 years and became a member of the corps de ballet in January 2010.  His performance experience includes pieces by Christopher Wheeldon, Benjamin Millepied and George Balanchine.

This unique version of the holiday classic showcases choreography by Co-Artistic Director Dan Guin, and a cast of more than 100 dancers including Toby Lewellen and Toby Tillman from Ballet Arkansas, Justin Metcalf Burton a freelance dancer out of New York and Shannon Smith, a frequent guest artist who has reciently made Boca Ballet Theatre his home.  Set to the music by Tchaikovsky, The Nutcracker is a special treat for all ages and a great way to kick-off the holiday season.

Following the matinee performances don’t miss the Gingerbread Ball, a festive children’s party where kids and their parents can meet characters from The Nutcracker, including the Sugar Plum Fairy her Cavalier and of course Clara, while enjoying treats from “the land sweets” on the stage!  This is a great photo opportunity and not to be missed.
