Local leaders, including mayor Susan Whelchel, gathered for a dedication ceremony after the American Planning Association named Plaza Real in Mizner Park one of the 10 Great Public Spaces in America. Boca Raton Planning, Zoning and Development director Julia Trevarthen mc'd the ceremony, where a permanent plaque and commemorative poster were unveiled to mark the occasion. A commemorative cake was also prepared and served to guests as Boca Raton Symphonia's brass ensemble performed.
