For the third year, the Palm Beach County Veterans Day Parade—which traveled from Clematis Street at Sapodilla Avenue to Centennial Square fountain and City Common—honored area veterans and active duty soldiers. Hundreds of participants from nearly 70 veterans’ organizations, color guards, community service groups, county services and more marched in the parade, now the largest in Florida. Prisoners of war from World War II, Korea and Vietnam, including Al Weber, Irwin Stovroff, Murray Stein, Charles Glarit and Bill Arcuri, served as grand marshals. Entertainment by John Melnick, Northwood University’s Renegade Rhythm Dance Team and the Monique McCall Band followed the parade as well as a regulatory competition among JROTC high school programs.
