Hoffman’s Chocolates Opens in Delray, Cholo Soy Cocina Opens for Lunch and More Food Goodies


New Hoffman’s Chocolates store opens at Delray Marketplace

Now your chocolate/sugar craving is easier to appease if you live in western Delray Beach, with the 10th Hoffman’s Chocolates store opening at 14851 Lyons Road in the Delray Marketplace.

With a staff of 8-10, the store will feature the usual 70-plus types of chocolates and confectionary goodies: double-dipped chocolate-covered pretzels, chocolate-drenched cookies, chocolate-covered strawberries, gourmet caramel apples (pictured), and gift baskets galore.

Cholo Soy Cocina opens for lunch in West Palm Beach

The new kid on West Palm Beach’s now-trendy Dixie Highway stretch, Cholo Soy Cocina, is open for lunch starting today (Nov. 14). Chef/owner Clayton Carnes opened his Andean taco-ceviche-quesadilla restaurant a few months ago, and business has been busy. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. Dinner is Tuesday-Saturday, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Vegetarian options are also offered. 3715 S. Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach; 561/619-7018.

Beaujolais nouveau is here: La Nouvelle Maison dinner

On Nov. 17 (it’s always the third Thursday in November), the new Beaujolais Nouveau will be released. You can taste the 2016 vintage from George Duboeuf, one of the top names in the varietal, along with the 2012 Morgon, 2013 Morgon, 2014 Pouilly Fuisse and the 2014 Moulin-a-Vent at a five-course La Nouvelle Maison dinner. For $120 per person (excluding tax/gratuity), the hors d’oeuvres start at 6:30 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m., and you’ll have dishes including grilled octopus, chilled veal carpaccio, filet of beef au poivre and more. Pie It Forward starts Thanksgiving off on the right path

A creative idea from Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches, Pie It Forward allows you to buy a pie for $25 (apple, pecan, pumpkin or virtual), so you eat a treat, and it also provides a week of nutritious meals for a local senior, too. It’s a can’t-miss idea.
