Amici Ristorante may have gone to that great restaurant burial ground in the sky, but former proprietor Maurizio Ciminella isn’t letting any arugula grow under his feet, opening Amici Market (155 S. County Rd., Palm Beach, 561/832-0201) in the space formerly home to another “gourmet” shop, Market Salamander.
Both inside and out the new market is virtually identical to its predecessor, though Amici does offer a small selection of high-quality produce, which Salamander abandoned about halfway through its tenure. Like Salamander, Amici offers designer beef and an extensive array of fresh seafood, plus an even more extensive roster of prepared foods, along with a pizza station.
Artisan cheeses, Parma prosciutto, Niman Ranch sausages and bacon, imported Italian pastas, San Marzano tomatoes and a limited selection of wines are among the “gourmet” items on the market’s shelves. It’s open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. 9 p.m. Amici Market is closed on Sunday.
