Summer is coming up fast, and if you’re anything like me this year: YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE HECK YOU ARE DOING. Should you travel? Should you stay home? Should you sign your kids up for sleep-away or day camp? 2020 threw all of us parents for a loop, so I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous about committing to summer plans right now. But school is ending in June, whether we’re ready or not! Local parents have to figure something out.
I’ve been researching a ton of South Florida camps–in addition to some July travel–and luckily we have lots of great options this year! Whether your son or daughter is into gymnastics, theater, science, art, dance, water sports–you name it–I probably have a great local recommendation for you.
NOTE: All of the below camp options provide temperature checks and encourage social distancing and mask-wearing indoors.

The Tokyo 2021 Olympics are right around the corner, so gymnastics will certainly be taking center stage this summer. If your child, age 3+, LOVES climbing, jumping, running and flipping, then they will have a BLAST at Twisters Boca Raton or American Twisters in Coconut Creek.
Summer Camp registration includes gymnastics instruction, arts & crafts, movie time, fun and games! My daughter also informed me that there’s a lot of open play during the day too. It’s an air-conditioned lifesaver from the Boca Raton furnace we live in most of the year! http://www.twistergymnastics.com/

Another great camp option for kids ages 3+ is ArtNest, the art studio you wish existed when you were a child. Their wonderful teachers tap into kids’ naturally creative minds and encourage them to let loose in the studio. Have you seen their paint splatter room on social media? It’s too cool. Plus, they’re only allowing 10 kids max for each week of camp. Check out their locations in both Delray and Boca! https://artneststudios.com/
Petite Designers

Offering both full and half day options for children ages 6+, Petite Designers Sewing & Fashion Design School gives sewing enthusiasts (whether your child is a beginner or has a sewing background) the opportunity to make accessories, pillows, stuffed animals, doll clothes and more throughout the summer. Plus, each week culminates with a Friday fashion show where campers can share what they made during the week on a real fashion runway! http://www.petitedesigners.com/
Broadway Summer Camp

Mizner Park Cultural Center is jumping into the summer camp game this year and offering a 6-week Broadway-style summer camp where your child will be taken on an exciting musical adventure. They’ll learn the ins and outs of theatre, all while preparing to perform a Broadway-style production of The Lion King Jr.!
Campers will learn how to build props, design costumes, write scripts and professionally audition for the production of The Lion King Jr. Parents are also invited to join for weekly showcases starring their own lion cubs! https://miznerparkculturalcenter.com/events/the-lion-king-jr-broadway-summer-camp/
