Big Flavors, Small Footprint: Can you DIG it?

Say hello to DIG, the fabulous new restaurant owned by Joey Giannuzzi — of The Green Gourmet — and Robert Greenfield, of the former Greenfield’s on Atlantic. DIG, which debuted on June 17th on West Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach — just west of Military Trail — stands for Doing it Green, so you can choose from a fabulous array of delicious, gourmet comfort food that is also clean, green cuisine.

You can feast on a ten-foot salad bar, stocked with locally grown, organic ingredients, along with two of Chef Joey’s famous house-made organic soups each day. If hummus makes you smile, you can opt for organic hummus — your way — from a tableside cart with an array of nifty add-ins. The green interior design sports floor-to-ceiling windows where you can gaze at the organic vegetable garden that supplies plenty of healthy ingredients to the dishes.

Chef Joey’s scratch menu includes a free-range half-roasted chicken; grass-fed beef short ribs, dairy-free and bread-free jumbo lump crab cakes; natural turkey meat loaf; his famous vegetable lasagna; grass-fed filet mignon and skirt steak; and organic Irish salmon. For lighter fare, there is a locally grown heirloom tomato salad with his house-made mozzarella and organic pesto; DIG’s signature organic chopped salad; South Florida’s only organic classic Caesar salad; Thai lettuce wraps; grass-fed beef and chicken satay with peanut sauce; and all natural turkey wraps with organic veggies and organic tzatziki sauce. There are also grass-fed beef and bison burgers, veggie burgers, and all natural turkey burgers.

Another swell restaurant feature is the organic juice and smoothie bar. DIG’s full bar incorporates a list of refreshing cocktails, and adult smoothies, made of organic gin, vodka, tequila, and rum. The wine list, by the bottle and the glass, and an array of beers —  on tap and by the bottle — both include organic selections. BTW, DIG also serves 100 percent organic fountain soda — eight flavors are offered, including rhubarb, root beer, ginger ale, and vanilla cream. You can also sample a different flavor of infused water, daily, such as orange rosemary, cucumber mint, and lemon basil varieties.

DIG also offers a daily happy hour from 5:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m., with drink specials and yummy bar bites, at reduced prices. DIG is open for lunch and dinner, daily, starting at 11:00 a.m.  DIG is located at 5199 West Atlantic Avenue (just west of Military Trail) in Delray Beach, Florida. Please phone 561.638.0500 for additional information and reservations.
