The latest on the Lynn University debate front is that longtime newsman Bob Schieffer will moderate the Oct. 22 debate between President Obama and presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney.
Schieffer is CBS’s chief Washington correspondent and the moderator of the Sunday morning news show “Face the Nation.” Schieffer has covered the State Department, Congress, the White House, Congress and the Pentagon in a distinguished career that has been consumed almost exclusively with national politics.
On October 13, 2004, he was the moderator of the presidentail debate between President George Bush and Senator John Kerry in Tempe, Arizona. On October 15, 2008, Schieffer moderated the presidential debate between Senator Barack Obama and Senator John McCain.
The other moderators are as follows: On Oct. 3, Jim Lehrer, executive editor of the PBS Newshour, will moderate the first debate between the presidential candidates, at the University of Denver. CNN chief political correspondent Candy Crowley will moderate a town hall-style meeting Oct. 16 at Hofstra University, in Hempstead, N.Y. Martha Raddatz, senior foreign affairs correspondent for ABC News, will moderate a debate between Vice President Joe Biden and Romney’s running mate, Paul Ryan, on Oct. 11 at Centre College in Danville, Ky.
