Golfers are heading back to the Boca West greens next month for the 21st annual Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation Golf Tournament.
The annual tournament benefits the hospital’s nursing program, with the goal to support recruitment, retention, continuing education, and quality of care for patients.
“Nurses are truly the key to quality healthcare. The Ron & Kathy Assaf Center for Excellence in Nursing provides many personal and professional opportunities for our nurses including scholarships that support their professional advancement,” says Michael Hoffer, the Annual Giving Development Officer at the Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation.
The Oct. 15 tournament got its start in 1997 as a fundraiser for the Ron & Kathy Assaf Center for Excellence in Nursing, and it’s only grown—just in the last decade, the number of golfers has more than tripled. Last year, about 340 golfers participated and raised $465,000.
The day of the tournament, golfers mingle and register until the shotgun call at 12:30 p.m. Foursomes and individual golfers play until around 4:30 p.m., and doors open for dinner at 5 p.m. There, the winning team and stand-out plays are recognized. Also, guests will be able to participate in a live auction to attend the Lexus Champions for Charity tournament in Pebble Beach, California.
“Continuing education is the biggest part of our nursing program, and the golf tournament helps them to continue to climb the clinical ladder at the hospital and continue to grow, both personally and professionally,” Hoffer says.
The golf tournament’s presenting sponsor is JM Lexus and the tournament sponsor is the Harcourt M. and Virginia W. Sylvester Foundation. The tournament will be led by Honorary Chairs Jayne and Chris Malfitano and Co-Chairs Terry Fedele and Amy Ross.
The tournament is Oct. 15 at Boca West Country Club, 20583 Boca W Drive in Boca Raton. For more information about participating as a golfer or sponsorship opportunities, visit donate.brrh.com/golf.
