For the South Florida woman who’s a mix of Southern charm and beach babe, the clothing boutique Brooke and Arrow now has a home in the Delray Marketplace.
After four years of running an online store, Delray Beach resident Brooke Nix opened the doors to a brick-and-mortar boutique in July.
“I know online has been a great way to shopping for the last few years, but I think people are almost circling back around to having a more authentic experience [inside a store],” Nix says.
During a Sip and Shop event Thursday, guests enjoyed wine, beer and sweet tea as they sifted through racks of flowing maxi dresses and tops—all fit with trendy lace, tassels, floral patterns, or pom poms—druzy and wooden bead bracelets, arrow necklaces, bamboo purses, cowgirl boots, and home wares. A guitar player crooned country and pop tunes while SportsCenter was on a flat-screen TV airing football.
“We’ve had high school girls shop in here, and just yesterday, we had a daughter, mother and grandmother walk in here all shopping together, like a little girls day out,” Nix says. “And the grandma bought something!”
Nix is a former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader and her husband, Laynce, played professional baseball. While she grew up in Florida, he hails from the Lone Star State and the style of the store reflects that. Working with only the bones of an empty space, the family turned it into a playful yet chic store inspired by a Texas saloon. This was a labor of love, buying and staining all the wood, laying down weathered flooring, and creating signage with bistro lights—attention was even paid to decorating the dressing rooms with wood and gold trim.
“Everything we did, every inch of this store is so detailed and particular to the way we wanted to do it,” Nix says.
Open seven days a week, get your shopping fix online or check out the brand-new shop—if our visit was any indication, you will definitely find something you like!
