Okay, so maybe that’s putting a bit too fine a point on it, but it is worth noting that the wildly successful (and quite delightful) Buddha Sky Bar has completed its takeover of the three-story building at the corner of East Atlantic and Railroad avenues in downtown Delray by opening the ground-floor level asBuddha Garden.
Previous occupants of the street-level space have been as star-crossed as the Sky Bar has been star-powered, with original inhabitant Atlantic Ocean Club and successor SpoonFed eating dirt big time while their third-floor neighbor was packin’ ‘em in.
While the Garden’s menu is the same as Sky Bar’s, the 120-seat space is brand new, with indoor and outdoor bars, a cherry, waterfall and “living walls.” There’s also sushi until 2 a.m. on weekends and a DJ spinning tunes on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. And just in case you’re wondering, the second-floor is now a spot for private dining, customizable for groups from 8 to 60.

Both Buddhas—Sky Bar and Garden—will be open for New Year’s Eve partying. On Monday, Dec. 31, there will be four seatings. The 5 and 7 p.m. seatings include a six-course meal with free glass of champagne for $75 per person. The 9 and 10 p.m. seatings offer a seven-course meal and a glass of bubbly for $125 per person. House DJ “Crunch Time” will be at the turntables from 8:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. No matter which you choose, you’ll need to make rezzies, which can be done by calling Buddha—the restaurant, not the demigod—at 561/450-7557.
