Celebrate Bastille Day with meal, music at Chez Marie French Bistro

Somewhere, there’s a reason to celebrate each day, and on July 14, it’s Bastille Day. Chez Marie French Bistro (5030 Champion Blvd.; 561/997-0027) will celebrate this national French holiday and feature a prix-fixe meal for $29.90, along with French singer Thierry Khalfa to serenade you, too. The dishes include chicken Basquaise, beef Bourguignon, duck a l’orange and more. Reservations are required; seating is limited.

New venture for Chef Blake Malatesta on the horizon

Executive Chef Blake Malatesta, formerly of Delray’s 50 Ocean, is opening his own restaurant on Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach. Called MIA (Modern. Inventive. Authentic.), it’s slated for a November debut, and will be a kitchen industrial-themed restaurant. Malatesta, who won the Feast of the Sea Palm Beach County competition last year, will serve local food — which he was known for at 50 Ocean — and promises a great cocktail menu, too. We can’t wait!
