Coming Events: Kewl Kids, Trolleys and Rhythm

Kewl Kids aren’t glued to the TV with a Big Mac in their hands, at least that’s the message from actor-healthy eating activist-local boy Reed Alexander, aka Nevel Papperman on the hit Nickelodeon show, iCarly. On Saturday Oct. 1 and 15, from noon to 2:30 p.m., Alexander will be doing his first SoFla “Eat and Greet” at Williams-Sonoma at Boca Town Center. There will be tastings of his Kewl Kwizine, tips on how to prepare healthy food that kids will actually eat and more. RSVP by calling 561/620-0245.

Toodle around Boca sampling good food and fine wine at the Boca RatonHistorical Society’s first annual Toasts, Tastes & Trolleys, a movable feast to benefit the society set for 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14. The event kicks off at the Boca Raton Resort & Club with bubbly and appetizers, then you trolley around to restaurants like the new Biergarten, Capri, Max’s Grille and Rustic Cellar for bites of dinner and specialty drinks. Cost is $125 per person and you can get on the trolley by calling the society at 561/395-6766, ext. 101.

Last call for wine dinners this year at Ken Rzab’s Rhythm Café (3800 S. Dixie Hwy., 561/833-3406). Featured at the meal—which, btw, will be vegetarian—are the wines of ZD, St. Supery and Frog’s Leap (whose motto is, “Time’s fun when you’re having flies”). Among the pairings: fig and date crepe with Frog’s Leap 2010 Sauvignon Blanc, corn and black bean cake with the 2009 ZD California Chardonnay, and profiteroles with St. Supery’s 2009 Moscato. Time is 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13. Cost is $65 per person; call the restaurant to make rezzies.
