More Than 500 Confirmed Coronavirus Cases in Boca Raton

The rate of new infections has slowed in Boca Raton and surrounding areas, but the number of confirmed coronavirus cases continues to rise even as restrictions are lifted throughout the state.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Boca Raton has reached 512 as of 10 a.m. on Monday, May 10 according to the Florida Department of Health. Boca Raton has dropped down to 15th on the list of cities with the most confirmed cases in the State of Florida, and still trails only West Palm Beach in Palm Beach County.

West Palm Beach leads Palm Beach County with 738 confirmed cases of COVID-19, while Lake Worth, Boynton Beach and Delray Beach trail Boca and West Palm with 463, 443 and 385 confirmed cases, respectively.

Palm Beach County still has the third-most confirmed cases in the state, with 3,814. That number accounts for 10% of all cases in the State of Florida. There are 40,982 confirmed cases in the state, with 7,224 hospitalizations and 1,735 deaths reported.

In addition to reporting the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Boca Raton and throughout the state, the Florida Department of Health is now also reporting which long-term care facilities have or have had confirmed COVID-19 deaths. According to the FDOH website, the data in the report “Reflects the current available information for nursing homes and assisted living facilities that have had a death that can be linked to the facility.” The list is updated weekly, and can be viewed here.

The Florida Department of Health reports that 561,057 COVID-19 tests have been administered throughout the state, with 40,982 positive results and 520,057 negative results.

All figures listed above are verified as of 10 a.m. on Monday, May 11 via the Florida Department of Health.
