David Manero to Open BurgerFi in Delray

When it comes to his fledgling chain up upmarket burger eateries, local restaurateur David Manero isn’t letting any arugula grow under his feet, or in this case it would probably be all-natural Angus beef.

Only weeks after the first BurgerFi (short for Manero’s concept of “the burgerfication of the nation”) opened in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, word comes that a second BurgerFi will debut on July 4 in the now-shuttered Surf Sliders location at the corner of Ocean and Atlantic avenues in Delray Beach, which also happens to be the site of one of Manero’s former restaurants, Shore.

And he’s not stopping there.

Three more South Florida BurgerFi’s are already planned: in South Beach, downtown Miami and Kendall, not to mention five more in Northern and Southern California. And just to make things even more interesting, Manero is franchising the BurgerFi brand and expects to have 100 of his re-imagined “American hamburger stands” throughout the country in five years’ time.

What BurgerFi is all about in your mouth is those Angus burgers, served in several different guises and ready to be customized to taste with an assortment of toppings, from the usual tomato-onion-pickle-lettuce to more “gourmet” offerings like roasted garlic aioli, Peter Luger steak sauce and hickory-smoked bacon.

There are dogs, sides, cupcakes, frozen custard, shakes, craft beers and even a small selection of wines, so you can get a little vinification with your burgerfication.
