Delray is right over the rainbow next month

Troubles may not melt like lemon drops but you may forget them for an hour or two if you make it to “Beyond the Rainbow: Garland at Carnegie Hall” during its run at The Arts Garage July 19 through August 11. (We predict a sell-out so get your tickets now!)

This musical play takes place in 1961 when Judy Garland was only 38, and performed “the concert of the century” at Carnegie Hall. The legendary concert (and major comeback for Garland) becomes the backdrop for an exploration of the star’s magical and haunted life, her husbands and family, iconic names from the era like Hedda Hooper, Louis B Mayer, Vincente Minelli and more. There are 24 songs that chronicle her life and times, including her biggest hits, from “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” to “Get Happy” to “The Trolley Song.”

Garland once said, “If I’m such a legend, then why am I so lonely? Let me tell you, legends are all very well if you’ve got somebody around who loves you.” Despite her turbulent life and failed marriages, the audience never stopped loving Garland–and history loves her still. This play is a tribute to one of America’s great sweethearts and a towering talent—we can’t wait to be there.

Do not miss it! This is Arts Garage at its best; go to artsgarage.org to order tickets.
