Guess what, Boca moms? The “happiest place on earth” is now officially your house, in case you didn’t get the COVID-19 memo. I’ve been watching so many families have Walt Disney World withdrawals on social media and boy, a lot of local moms have really been creative in re-creating their favorite pixie-dusted traditions at home!
Why do they go the trouble? Because Disney makes people feel better, feel hopeful; especially children. And in a world where group gatherings, enchanted events and fairytale theme parks aren’t possible (at the moment), the Walt Disney Company has pivoted with their programming in order to keep some of that magic alive…virtually!
Disney Bedtime Hotline
One of ShopDisney.com’s most beloved offerings has recently returned by popular quarantine demand. The Disney Bedtime Hotline has been activated for a limited time and is bringing a little pixie dust to fans and families everywhere. Parents can simply call 1-877-7-MICKEY to access one of five special (complimentary) messages for their little ones from the comfort of their own home. Fans will be able to hear from either Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck or Goofy.
I personally think this is great because these days, I’d much rather have one of my child’s favorite characters lovingly ask her to go to bed than this tired mommy.
Disney also decided to sprinkle some of its signature magic online with the recent launch of DisneyMagicMoments.com. The interactive hub invites fans to enjoy Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel, and National Geographic via stories, videos, and activities that inspire imagination and discovery…wherever you may be.
Depending on your or your kids’ moods, you can choose to dive into one of three major categories—Learn and Create, Fun and Play or Care and Community. There are tons of activities available that stir the imagination and inspire the heart. But most of all, #DisneyMagicMoments hopes to provide your family with an escape…which we could all use more of these days.
So until we can all head back to Orlando to see Cinderella’s castle in person, these virtual Disney moments will have to do! If anything, I know my family will appreciate that first hug with Mickey even more when we return.
