Two New Restaurants on the Horizon: El Cochinito and Trophy Room

All Cuban food fans should be happy about the news that El Cochinito will be opening at Grandview Public Market in September.

This Los Angeles-based restaurant won World’s Best Cuban Sandwich in the 2018 Tampa festival this year. And it’s known for its lechon asado, a dish I particularly love. This will be only the second location in the country. Owner Daniel Navarro is from West Palm Beach, so he, his mother and sister will be operating the new venue.

To make room for El Cochinito, the Clare’s space will be renovated (and closed from Aug. 12-18), and the two vendors will share one large area. There are quite a few other food vendors in the market, giving a lot of options for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Wellington folks will see the Trophy Room restaurant open sometime this fall where The Grille Fashion Cuisine closed about a month ago. That would be in the Mizner Place plaza, where it was also formerly the home of Nicole’s Village Tavern. The Trophy Room space will be revamped with a new 35-seat dining room, bar, lounge, and outdoor garden area. The menu will be New American cuisine with small plates, which seems to be the trend at the moment. Initial hours will be daily dinner only; owned by the T&R Restaurant Group.
