February 24, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - April 9, 2017 @ 10:00 pm

Chinese Lantern Festival Offers “Wild” Nights of Art, Live Kung Fu Action at Boca Raton’s Sunset Cove Amphitheater, Feb. 24-April 9

Boca Raton, Fla. (January 24, 2017) – Featuring approximately 800 illuminated lanterns, Hanart Culture’s Chinese Lantern Festival will provide a stunning visual exhibition of Chinese art and culture at Sunset Cove Amphitheater in Boca Raton, Florida, February 24-April 9 (Wednesdays-Sundays, 5:30 p.m.-10 p.m.). The Festival presents a modern and unique approach to the ancient art of lantern-making, which promises to amaze fun seekers of all ages.

This year’s theme, “The Wild,” offers an enchanting safari for visitors to walk through. From lions, giraffes, and pandas to pre-historic dinosaurs, these life-size works of art take the forms of animals representing all four corners of the earth including Africa, Asia/Europe, the Americas, and Antarctica. Each location scene is set in beautiful dreamscapes of light, color, sound, and motion—delivering an unparalleled experience.

Leading up to opening day, professional artists from China will spend weeks in a temporary “lantern factory” developing the displays. “While these lighted artistic structures are referred to as ‘lanterns,’ they should not be confused with hand-held candle-lit lamps. With the use of satin, rayon, ceramic, glass, paint and steel wires, it takes nearly 30,000 hours to design the intricate shapes seen at Hanart Culture’s Chinese Lantern Festival,” says George Zhao, president of Hanart Culture.

In addition to the unique lantern displays, visitors will enjoy live Kung Fu action and interactive coaching sessions conducted by seasoned martial arts champions. Talented folk artists will create impressive clay portraits, paintings, handmade items using palm weaving and embroidery techniques, and more. Visitors can keep these high-quality, custom-made souvenirs for themselves, or give them as gifts to family and friends. Children can enjoy dinosaur rides at Dinosaur Empire, an exhibit with detailed, moving replicas of the pre-historic animals. There will also be an assortment of vendors serving a variety of food, including authentic Asian cuisine.

Tickets can be purchased at the event or online at Admission tickets are $25 at the door/$22 online for adults, and $15 at the door/$12.50 online for children ages 4-12.
