SAVE THE DATE – 2021 Hillsboro Lighthouse GALA
Calling all Fly Boys, Flappers, Dames and Daddies, Hoodlums, Hotties, Gangster and Dolls !!!
You are invited to attend the Roaring 20’s 114th Anniversary Fundraising Gala at the Hillsboro Lighthouse on Friday, March 26, 2021, from Sunset (7 pm) to Moonrise (11 pm).
Last year, the Hillsboro Lighthouse Preservation Society (HLPS) sold out their 2020 event in less than three weeks. Each year, this evening gets better and better. This is the fifth year that the non-profit has invited the community to celebrate and help preserve its historic aid to navigation.
If you are reading this Save The Date message, then YOU are one of our special invitees who are among the first to know about our 2021 Gala.
For $170.00 clam$ per person, or $1,300.00 for a Ritzy Table of Eight you will have a Bee’s Knees and Cat’s Meow of a time under the full moon. We will be serving a top-notch four-course meal, once we choose a caterer. At this early date, we are open to recommendations, from you, of a reputable catering company to interview.
Attendees will also enjoy the open bar … complete with all the moonshine, hooch, booze, pop and hair of the dog you can guzzle. The Promise Band will provide live music of the Roaring 1920's, in addition to soul and Motown favorites.
This will be the only night of the year when guests can climb the 175 stairs to the top of the Lighthouse to enter the Lens Room, where you will see the brightest and only working second-order bi-valve Fresnel lens in the world!
The view, from that height at night under the full moon, is more spectacular than the daytime as the water reflects all the glowing lights from shore. It is something awesome to behold with a full moon in the sky. Women are reminded to please bring non-heel, closed-toe shoes in order to climb the stairs. Sneakers work best.
Last year, the line to get up to the Lighthouse was very long because only 15 people are allowed on top, at a time, to prevent overcrowding. This year, the HLPS is offering the first 20 guests, who pay $50 each, the opportunity to “Jump to the Head of the Line” with a Private Historic Tour of the Lens Room and with their photo taken sitting next to the Diamond Lens.
During the evening, there will be a Live Auction for a ride on the Goodyear Blimp and an Online Auction filled with remarkable items.
This year, getting to the Gala is even easier and more fun. Leave your car at Alsdorf Park , located at 2901 NE 14th Street , Pompano Beach , walk to the dock and board the free ferry for the 15-minute ride to the Hillsboro Lighthouse. At the end of the evening, you will return to your car via a return ferry. The ferry ride is the only way to get onto the private Lighthouse Property.
The first two ferries will depart the dock promptly at 6:15 pm, with subsequent ferries leaving in 20-minute intervals.
At 7 p.m., guests will start enjoying waiter-served hors d’oeuvres, which will only be available for one hour. If you don’t want to miss these mouth-watering morsels, please consider leaving your home early, parking early, and taking the earliest ferry possible. Whether you are on the lamb or on the level, you do not want to miss this evening at the Hillsboro Lighthouse.
Another entertainment innovation, for the 2021 Gala, is that guests will have the option of getting all dolled up in classy Roaring 20’s Flapper & Gangster garb … in keeping with the Speakeasy theme or if costumes aren’t your thing, you can always dress in the formal Black & White (to match the colors of the Lighthouse) attire.
Corporations, businesses, and organizations that are interested in sponsorship opportunities will benefit from prominent graphic signage on all marketing materials, receive a swag bag of souvenir items, and get a yearly Business Membership to the HLPS.
This Fundraising Gala was the creative concept of Divich & Doone. Every dollar raised goes directly into the HLPS Fund, which subsidizes annual maintenance, repair, and restoration of the Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse.
If you are a fan of lighthouses, in general, and are passionate about supporting the Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse, in particular, then please consider attending this event, donating a Silent Auction item, or becoming a business sponsor.
Tickets will be sold online through Eventbrite via https://hillsborolighthousegala.eventbrite.com.
If you have any further questions, wish to be a corporate/business sponsor, or want to donate an item to the Silent Auction, please contact Debbie Divich via e-mail media@hillsborolighthouse.org or phone (786) 251-0811
We look forward to seeing you at our 2021 GALA.
