To celebrate a new Facebook feature, the social media company is making stops in all 50 states to give away free cupcakes—including a Delray Beach bakery.
Two Fat Cookies was chosen as the one Florida bakery to introduce Facebook’s new Birthday Stories, where friends and family can add e-cards, photos and videos to a story to celebrate a birthday.
Facebook and the bakery will be giving away one cupcake per customer from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at 245 NE Second Ave. in Delray Beach. You’ll also be able to get a sneak peek of Birthday Stories while you’re there.
Zoey Wexler, head cake decorator and co-owner of Two Fat Cookies, says Facebook approached them for the opportunity. While she’s not sure what lead them there—they are active on Facebook and Instagram, though—she’s grateful that they were chosen.
“We were super honored to be the only bakery in Florida to help launch the product,” Wexler says.
The staff created a special Facebook birthday cupcake for the occasion—Funfetti batter, Facebook-blue buttercream icing, sprinkles, and a birthday candle. They’re planning on making 600 cupcakes, but will make more if needed.
This comes at the cusp of Mother’s Day weekend, and before the bakery’s move a few blocks south on the Avenue later this month.
The re-opening date is to be determined—but we’re sure they’ll announce it on Facebook.
