Falafel croquettes with ground chickpeas, garlic, lemon, tahini and more can be addictive.
The Middle Eastern restaurant Leila in West Palm Beach plans to celebrate International Falafel Day, which is June 12, with offering these for $8 an order. Whoever eats the most falafels on that day wins a gift certificate to the restaurant. And there will be a “buy one, give one” promotion to benefit the West Palm Beach Police Athletic League. This venue is also known for its Friday-Saturday night dinners that feature belly-dancing entertainment at 7:30 and 9 p.m. 120 S. Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach; 561/659-7373; leilawpb.com

Fudgie the Beer: Fave ice cream cake turns into a stout
Just when you thought you’d seen it all, along comes Fudgie the Beer! Yep, that 1980s sweet ice cream creation, Fudgie the Whale, has been canned. Briefly. Just in Elmsford, New York, at the Captain Lawrence Brewing Company. Brewed with Carvel’s blessing, it was made with chocolate crunchies and fudge. This limited-edition Father’s Day stout’s first batch sold out immediately. More is on the way.
