Fall & Winter Break Camps in Boca Raton That Will Save Your Sanity

Remember fall and winter break as a child? I used to count down the days…not so much for the time off of school (even though that was a nice bonus!), but for the time I’d spend outdoors playing with my South Florida neighborhood friends. Yep, I’m a Boca Raton native! The weather was gorgeous, the trees next door were packed with fresh oranges you could eat right off the branch and at least one or two of the neighborhood moms would usually be around to feed us PB&J sandwiches for lunch.

Those were the days.

Now, as much as this working mom would love to let her 8 year-old roam free through our neighborhood streets during the school breaks coming up, my child of the 2020’s would prefer to either hang out on her tablet or go to an organized playdate with one her school friends. And, because I need to work and get life done during most of the break, neither is really an option for us.

I originally became hip to the concept of school break camps a few years back. Knowing how helpful it would be to me and other families, I dove headfirst into researching South Florida camp options. Whether your son or daughter is into gymnastics, sewing, science, art, water sports—you name it, I probably have a great local recommendation for you. I can’t wait to send my daughter to one of these amazing camps!

Petite Designers

Offering both full and half day options for children ages 7+, Petite Designers Sewing & Fashion Design School gives sewing enthusiasts the opportunity to make accessories, pillows, stuffed animals, doll clothes and more during school breaks. Trust me, my kid has created it all! The week culminates with a Friday fashion show where each camper shares what they made on a real runway!

Petite Designers Sewing Camp is perfect for beginners as well as kids with a sewing background. Their talented, dedicated instructors guide kids with different levels of experience in a safe and friendly environment. Fun Fact: we had a random day off of school earlier this month and Petite Designers put on a private day camp for most of daughter’s third grade class! Keep that knowledge in your back pocket when you and your mom friends are in a pinch…

Twisters

If your child, age 3+, LOVES climbing, jumping, running and flipping, then they will have a BLAST at Twisters Boca Raton or American Twisters in Coconut Creek during Fall and Winter Break. Their gym is top notch! Registration includes gymnastics instruction, arts & crafts, movie time, fun and games.

My daughter informed me that there’s a good amount of open play during the day. She always wants to get there early to take advantage of the morning free gym time! Plus, her friends usually tend to join her the minute they hear “gymnastics camp.”

Bricks Bots & Beakers STEAM Day Camp

If your goal is for your child to become a future scientist, then this camp is for them! Bricks Bots & Beakers’ inspiring and engaging programs allow children to discover STEAM through exciting hands-on experiments, games and simulations.

Held at We Rock the Spectrum in Boca Raton, their camp promotes critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving. The days are packed with interactive lessons, scientific experiments, educational simulations, themed games, and fun open gym time. Kind of the best of both school break worlds, if you ask me!
