Chill out with National Ice Cream Month
July is stuck between hot and hotter on the SoFla calendar, but you don’t have to suffer it lightly. Take charge and turn on your National Ice Cream Month self with a trip to the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach. You can tour the museum for free on Friday and Saturdays, and then stop in at The Restaurant there for a bite, and a slurp of the Giant Bananas “Foster” Milkshake ($15). The renovated Norton is a joy for the senses, and this milkshake treat will be part of that. It’s named for architect Norman Foster, who’s responsible for the museum’s new environment.

This will be on Atlantic Avenue where 32 East used to operate. Dishes will include grilled chicken caponata (pictured), salads, pastas and a lot more. 32 E. - And sometimes summer brings closings, with Ouzo Bay out at Mizner Park, and now Maven out on Palm Beach (207 Royal Poinciana Way). Maven, a “French-inspired Nantucket-style” restaurant opened in January 2018, closed for the 2018 summer and opened for the next season in fall 2018. It had announced it would remain open this summer and started specials, but last week came the news that it closed Saturday.
