It’s every girl’s dream: stepping foot inside Barbie’s Dreamhouse and exploring every nook and cranny as if it were your own home. With the Barbie Dreamhouse Experience, now open at Sawgrass Mills in Sunrise, that dream is now a reality.

Visitors to the 10,000-square-foot attraction are treated to a tour of the very pink, very interactive home. The space is filled with several rooms straight out of the toy Dreamhouse many young girls grew up with, including Barbie’s famed hot-pink elevator. While exploring the house, children (and parents) can make cupcakes on a touchscreen in the kitchen, play with jewelry in Barbie’s enormous closet and stand inside a “glitterizer” in her bedroom.

Barbie herself can be seen throughout the house in animated form, along with the more than 350 Barbie dolls on display. For those who purchase the VIP Megastar Ticket, the experience ends with a fashion show where girls rock the runway after receiving a beauty makeover.

Created by Mattel and EMS Entertainment, an Austria-based company which helped design and build the Dreamhouse, the project has been two years in the making. The Sunrise location is the first in the world, with a second incarnation debuting in Berlin soon after.

The Dreamhouse Experience is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday. It is located at The Oasis at Sawgrass Mills, across from Regal Sawgrass 23 Cinemas. Ticket prices range from $14.84 to $29.95 on weekdays and $16.84 to $31.95 on weekends. For information, call 954/845-2343 or visit barbiedreamhouse.com.
