2018 is already shaping up to be pretty exciting with the recent announcement of two new children’s exhibits coming to the Museum of Discovery and Science in the new year. Your local littles will be over the moon when they find out that two of their beloved childhood characters, Clifford The Big Red Dog and Curious George, will be arriving for a spring run in Ft. Lauderdale starting Jan. 20.
First up, board the Birdwell Island ferry and journey to the world of Clifford, America’s beloved big, red dog with a heart to match. The first exhibit coming in January, Adventures with Clifford The Big Red Dog, offers numerous immersive “paws-on” adventures that reinforce “Clifford’s Big Ideas”—ten simple tangible life lessons designed to help young children navigate their world.

These include: Share, Play Fair, Have Respect, Work Together, Be Responsible, Be Truthful, Be Kind, Believe in Yourself, Be a Good Friend and Help Others. As the mom of a willful 4-year-old, I know these lessons need CONSTANT reinforcing! I can’t wait for my daughter to meet Clifford.

The second exhibit, Curious George: Let’s Get Curious, will introduce children to Curious George’s world and lead visitors on a fun, meaningful interactive math, science and engineering-based adventure. The little monkey who has captured the imagination and hearts of so many for 65 years will inspire young kid’s natural curiosity as they explore early science, math and engineering through hands-on interactive play.

The immersive exhibit takes place in the neighborhood where Curious George lives with his friend, The Man with the Yellow Hat. Visitors will recognize familiar characters and places featured in the classic stories and the television series. I am especially excited to climb into the rocket Curious George rode on his space adventure! In this particular part of the exhibit, you’ll be able to catch a glimpse of George in his space suit, take a picture from the control station and email it home.

So mark your calendars mamas! Both of these exhibits will be running through May 6 at MODS, and you won’t want to miss them.
