A reminder: Magic starts tomorrow night at The Arts Garage as the production everyone is talking about has its opening night. “Beyond the Rainbow: Garland at Carnegie Hall” starts its run July 19 through August 11 and we know it’s going to be a winner. The musical play takes place in 1961 when Judy Garland was only 38, and performed “the concert of the century” at Carnegie Hall. The legendary concert (and major comeback for Garland) becomes the backdrop for an exploration of the star’s magical and haunted life, her husbands and family, iconic names from the era like Hedda Hooper, Louis B Mayer, Vincente Minelli and more. There are 24 songs that chronicle her life and times, including her biggest hits, from “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” to “Get Happy” to “The Trolley Song.”
It is a moving tribute to one of America’s most talented sweethearts, the girl who once discovered Oz and later, a whole new adult world that was as complex as it was challenging.
Delray Beach magazine is proud to be the media sponsor for the opening night of this much-beloved play, so we hope to see you there. And if you can’t make it this weekend, book your tickets now–go to artsgarage.org to order tickets.
