A seven-course, prix-fixe tasting menu will change nightly at Kuro, a new-style Japanese restaurant at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Executive Chef Alex Q. Becker will start with cold/sashimi dishes, then hot/tempura/robata dishes, then sushi, then dessert. I love leaving the food choice up to the chef. That sounds like one terrific evening meal. Something new: Mexican dining at OLLA on Miami Beach
Recently opening on Lincoln Road, the Mexican restaurant OLLA specializes in dishes from Oaxaca to Puebla, Yucatan to Veracruz. A veritable tour of the country. Chef Scott Linquist (of COYO Taco) is heading the kitchen and concept, and is teamed with entrepreneur Aaron McKown in this venture.
The dining area sports a large communal table, and smaller tables scattered around. Guacamole prepared tableside is offered. Some dishes are served “a la olla” (olla refers to ceramic jars used for cooking family style dishes), such as Huitlacoche, corn truffles, wild mushrooms, toasted garlic, chile de arbol, queso fresco and epazota. The full bar has cocktails, as well as lots of tequila and mezcal, along with sangria, wine and beer. Open daily for dinner, with lunch and brunch to start in the future.
