Let’s Dance! Footloose & Cancer Free is Back

The Pap Corps Announces 2021 Date for Amateur Dance Competition

The Pap Corps Champions for Cancer Research is proud to announce that its Footloose & Cancer Free 2021 event will be held at The Opal Grand Resort in Delray Beach on Sunday, October 3 at 1:00 p.m. Amateur dance couples from Pap Corps chapters will compete live at the event and will also be featured in compelling video presentations on the website to garner donations. The event will feature a 3-course luncheon with a champagne toast and live entertainment, followed by open dancing after the competition. Proceeds fund cancer research at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. Tickets for the event are $75 per person at www.thepapcorps.org, and online voting is now open.

“Despite the pandemic, we haven’t missed a beat! Our dancers are ready to Hustle, Tango and Swing their way to the top of the fundraising board,” said Beverly Berkowitz, co-chair of the Footloose Committee and Officer at Large of The Pap Corps Board of Directors. “We hope everyone who has been touched by cancer will visit our website to vote for their favorite dance couple, knowing that each donation will Support the Next Survivor.”

All dance couples are featured in their own video, showcasing a few signature dance moves while sharing their often poignant and very personal reasons for supporting cancer research. Voting is open to everyone, everywhere with a minimum of $5 per vote. During the event, an award will be presented to the best fundraising couple, in addition to honoring the best dance couple.

To prepare for dance competition, the amateur couples will take dance lessons at The Delray Ballroom to perfect their routines. All the couples will also be featured in a group dance lead by the ballroom’s owners, Kris and Amanda Whitney.

The funds from this event, and all The Pap Corps’ events, support research at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center leading to new and better treatments for all types of cancers. Inspiring more people to donate to this worthy cause is the reason Footloose & Cancer Free was created.

“We are so grateful to the dance couples who have volunteered to participate in this event,” said Sally Berenzweig, CEO of The Pap Corps. “We are inspired by their personal stories and their passion and dedication to The Pap Corps. We look forward to showcasing our dancers on our website and having the public vote for their favorite duo.”

The Pap Corps would like to share special thanks for Presenting Sponsor Sharon Goodhardt Travel Agency and Inspiration Sponsors Dr. Heidi Schaeffer and The Wrobel Family Foundation. They also share gratitude for their other sponsors including The Delray Ballroom, Boca magazine and Legends Radio.

About The Pap Corps:

Since its founding in 1952, The Pap Corps has donated more than $110 million to Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, including a historic $50 million pledge in 2016 dedicating The Pap Corps Campus at Sylvester in Deerfield Beach. The Pap Corps, a grassroots organization, derives its name from Dr. George Papanicolaou, a pioneer in cytopathology and early cancer detection, who introduced the world to the revolutionary ‘Pap’ test. A small group of women began the organization to support his efforts, and over the decades it has grown into an organization of over 20,000 men and women, in over 50 chapters, who raise funds to support all types of cancers.
