While we have lost some familiar restaurant names, I’m happy to report that the farmer’s market population is increasing, in West Palm Beach anyway. I hope more spring up around the county, as cooking at home increased and folks figured out there’s a need to support local farms and eat healthy, delicious produce, too.

Bedner’s Farm Fresh Market ready to open in WPB

The Bedner family started farming in Palm Beach County in 1960, and the family has grown along with their company. With two markets now in Delray Beach and Boynton Beach, they will welcome another Bedner’s Farm Fresh Market at 420 Claremore Drive in West Palm Beach before the end of the year. It’s right across the street from the EmKo/Todd’s compound on Dixie Highway.

Farmhouse Marketplace and the tomatoes

For those who were fans of Farmhouse Tomatoes Inc. during the early summer months, when we could buy an enormous box of heirloom tomatoes for $10, you’ll be glad to know those hydroponically grown fruits are back.

With them comes a retail store, Farmhouse Marketplace, just down the road from the Grandview Public Market and just south of Okeechobee Boulevard (catty-corner across from the Kravis Performing Arts Center) and east of I-95.

The new store has plant-based products, CBD products, organic, non-GMO, gluten-free, kosher products.

Stone crab season started: Check out Joe’s

Just a note for stone crab lovers: The season has started! Check out your favorite seafood restaurant, or my personal favorite, Joe’s Stone Crab in Miami Beach.

Speaking of Joe’s, not only are their dining rooms reopened with social distancing, but they’ve built Joe’s Backyard, a new alfresco experience with both open-air and under-tent options. And they are offering limited reservations through the Resy app. Will wonders never cease!
