Nick’s Apizza to Be Reborn in Boca

Well, looks like reports of the death of Nick’s Apizza (actually, my reports) were greatly exaggerated. (And a tip of the literary hat to Mark Twain.)

The downtown Lake Worth Nick’s, the first local purveyor of classic New Haven-style pizzas, is indeed kaput, as I posted here last week. But proprietor Nick Laudano is far from being out of the local restaurant business. After voluntarily closing the Lake Worth eatery, he’s partnered up with Anthony Giovanniello to open a new Nick’s Apizza (pronounced a-BEETS) in Boca Raton’s Glades Plaza in May. Oh, and three more SoFla Nick’s after that.

More good news is that all the favorites of the Lake Worth Nick’s will be on the menu (including his killer white clam pie), as well as new additions like Hummel hotdogs, Foxon Park sodas, Libby’s New Haven Italian ices and home-made cheesecake.

As for the place itself, it will be designed by Laudano and restaurant designer to the stars Karen Hanlon (think Table 42, Racks Downtown Eatery, Yolo, etc.), and will feature a 1940s-inspired kitchen pantry, ceiling wallpapered with authentic Twenties and Thirties advertising, and Nick’s custom-built brick ovens. There will also be a bar, a to-go window, and indoor-outdoor seating for 150.

Talk about landing on your feet.
