Old School Pizza Rolls Out New Dishes

It’s a new year and some new menu items for Delray’s Scuola Vecchia Pizza e Vino(522 E. Atlantic Ave., 561/865-5923).

The chic, stylish little pizzeria, whose commitment to Neapolitan authenticity in their pies is as rigorous as it is heartfelt, will unveil its new additions during a complimentary tasting slated for 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 8. Helping play host will be New York pizzaiolo Roberto Caporuscio, president of the Association Pizzaiuoli Napolentani and the restaurant’s mentor.

Among the dishes are pizza frittas, a round of the restaurant’s incomparably light, flavorful dough quick-fried and topped with tomato sauce, pecorino romano and house-made mozzarella cheeses, and scattered with fresh basil. “Old school” pastas (the literal translation of Scuola Vecchia) will go on the menu too, including meat and veggie lasagna, eggplant Parmigiana and meatballs.

If you haven’t checked out Scuola Vecchia’s superlative pies, this is the perfect excuse to do so.
