Rapoport, Militello Team Up on Menus

Two of the most prominent players in the development of the ever-improving South Florida restaurant scene have gotten together to update the menus of a pair of local eateries.

That duo would be Burt Rapoport and Mark Militello, the former largely responsible for bringing the then-cutting edge fresh, sexy, inventive California culinary ethos to SoFla in the Seventies and Eighties, the latter one of the original Mango Gangsters responsible for putting local restaurants on the national culinary map.

The restaurants would be Rapoport’s Bogarts Bar & Grill in the Cinemark Palace 20 theater in Boca Raton and the beach-centric, waterfront Deck 84 in Delray. Among the Militello-inspired dishes added to the Bogart’s menu are coriander-crusted tuna with mixed greens and ginger-mustard-miso dressing, buttermilk-marinated Buffalo chicken sliders with blue cheese slaw, and a “white pizza” with roasted garlic sauce and four cheeses. Deck’s menu sees a grilled grouper reuben with gruyere and thousand island dressing, Baja shrimp tacos and a jumbo lump crabcake with citrus and arugula salad, sweet corn-avocado salsa and chipotle remoulade.

Sounds good to me.
