Small Bites: All the Restaurant News You Can Use

A couple of good deals at Philippe Boca Raton (200 E. Palmetto Park Rd., 561/393-4666), Philippe Chow’s elegant, upscale Chinese restaurant in the old III Forks location near Royal Palm Place. UPDATE: Happy hour is all night long at the Fountain Bar only, where every day from 4 p.m. to close are featured $5 cocktails and wine, $4 beer, and $5 to $7 apps ranging from chicken satays to salt and pepper calamari. The same menu is available every day at the main bar from 4 to 7 p.m.

If you haven’t heard of Matteo’s Garden Club (140 Sunrise Ave., 561/833-6600), well, it’s hardly a surprise, as the eatery of former Cucina dell’Arte chef Matteo Vicinanza in Palm Beach’s Sun & Surf Condominiums is contractually forbidden from advertising its wares (it’s a long story). So consider this your head’s up if you’re hungry for Italian dishes like osso buco, ravioli Caprese and almond-crusted salmon.

And if you’re jonesing for a big sandwich or plate of hearty pasta, Boca’s newCorner Bakery Café (2240 NW 19thSt., 561/417-6137) should be logged into your GPS. The Panera Bread-like café features house-made breads (natch), which make up sammies from smoked ham on pretzel bread to meatballs ‘n’ marinara on sourdough. There’s soups, salads, pastas and chili too, as well as cookies, brownies, cakes and whoopee pies. Whoopee!
