Back in the saddle is Max’s Grille (404 Plaza Real, Boca Raton, 561/368-0080), which closed for a month in late August for extensive renovation by the same Manhas Design firm that’s doing Max’s soon-to-debut Mexican restaurant in Boca. The design includes new flooring and furnishings, a new color scheme, and updates to the signature exhibition kitchen. All your favorite dishes are still on the menu, though, so don’t despair.
Coming to Fort Lauderdale later this month is d.b.a./café (3264 N. Federal Hwy., 954-565-3392), a New York-centric eatery dishing an eclectic menu of “food for the wandering palate” created by local top toque (and Manhattan native) Steve Zobel. Think casual American cookery at lunch are more European-influenced fare at dinner (available in half or full portion), plus a really cool wine list created by owner and former Il Mercato proprietor Michael Lynch.
