Coming next month to Boca’s Royal Palm Place, which has seen several recent restaurant closures, is The Raw Garden, a raw vegan eatery from the folks next door at Juiceateria. A sign on the window promises, “Everything raw, all natural, all vegan, 100 percent plant-based” dishes. And, in case you didn’t get the message, “No cooking.”

Not quite vegan but still on the “healthy” side of the dining equation is Boca’s second First Watch (20401 State Rd. 7, 561/883-0088), a breakfast, brunch and lunch spot that offers free WiFi and newspapers (remember those?) every day. The menu dishes everything from good-for-you egg-white omelets to bad-for-you (but ever so much tastier) eggs Benedict, plus salads and sammies for lunch and a menu for the kiddies.

And since there’s certainly an argument to be made that beer is a basic food group, say hello to The Brass Tap (550 Rosemary Ave., 561/366-9226) in CityPlace. This craft beer-centric pub features some 300 brewskis on tap and bottled; plus a decent selection of wines by the half-glass, full glass and bottle; a small roster of cigars; a small menu of sandwiches and such; and live music on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
