Spoto’s PBG Eatery Changing from Turf to Surf

Now here’s a real man bites dog story.

Noted local restaurateur John Spoto has closed his meat-heavy Spoto’s Oakwood Grill in PGA Commons and will reopen in October as fish-friendlyWater Bar & Grill.

Spoto has been quoted as saying the change was triggered by the fact that surf was outselling turf at Oakwood so he’s going whole hog. . . er, hogfish with the seafood concept. Look for some meaty Oakwood favorites to remain on Water Bar’s menu, but the emphasis will shift to all things from the sea, including bringing in whole fish to be filleted in-house.

Look for a lighter, brighter and more contemporary look for the restaurant too, perhaps one inspired by the new logo.
