Spring Beauty Glow Up: LLScene’s Favorites for 2021

This article is all about stepping outside of your comfort zone and into the innovative beauty industry. Whether it’s a beauty procedure, a product, a service, or anything in between, we always test and trial everything before bringing it to our Boca magazine readers. In today’s article, we’re covering procedures and products we have never used or spotlighted in the past, and we’re happy to report the results we’ve received from stepping outside of our beauty comfort zones. Consider this your true spring glow up.

After being in quarantine over the last year, we all found out what we truly need and want in our lives. Aesthetically, we wanted to give our readers this spring glow up article with beauty products and treatments we have never tried before, but always wanted to. We only work with brands and products and businesses that we trust, so rest assured we have done a ton of research on everything we are about to cover today.

Effortless Arches by Leanne Venter

We have to admit, we’ve never really been into eyebrows the way other people are, but are so glad we stepped outside of our beauty comfort zone with this one. In hindsight, it’s easy to see how important it was for us to embrace our brows and make an appointment with the best out there: Leanne Venter, the Founder of Effortless Arches. Lindsey has always been back-and-forth about getting a Microblading treatment done to her brows because of the downtime, but it has been a game changer. This is why we’re so glad to have found Effortless Arches in Palm Beach Gardens.

It was a little bit of a drive for Lindsey from Delray Beach, but absolutely worth it. Leanne is completely professional, and also an artist in her craft. Despite Lindsey‘s extremely sensitive skin, Leeanne was able to work around it and provide her with a service that was less invasive than Microblading called Ombre Powder. What’s the difference between Ombre Powder Brows vs. Microblading? Ombre Powdering is the newest shading technique in permanent makeup. This method creates pixelated dots to imitate powder filled brows with no harsh front or outline, which is huge, especially if it’s your first time. This shadowing technique isn’t as invasive, it lasts longer and can go from light to dark over time. Microblading creates 3D hair-like strokes using microfine needles, and has a little bit more of a downtime, we’ve been told. Essentially, it is the same thing but the needles and tattooing don’t go as far into your skin.

This is definitely a procedure that Lindsey was a little bit scared to get done because she wanted a natural look, and things can go terribly wrong if you go to the wrong place. Thank goodness we found Leanne at Effortless Arches, because she would never let something like that happen. And no, it did not hurt a bit. If you are unfamiliar with permanent makeup, Microblading, or Ombre Powder Brows, it can be a little jarring and scary at first. This is Lindsey’s before and after photo right after the treatment was completed.

This is a treatment where you really need to “embrace the process” because after two weeks of letting the process happen naturally, we’re happy to report that Lindsey is in LOVE with her brows.

“I’m at the point where I can’t remember or believe I ever lived without them,” Lindsey said after the procedure. “Getting ready and doing my makeup is so much easier now that I don’t have to worry about my brows.”

We have to admit that we don’t know if that would be the case if we went anywhere else than Effortless Arches. Leanne was very detailed and meticulous about how she filled in the brows. Lindsey followed all of the protocols to ensure that her brows would not be compromised or messed up by something she did in the aftercare process. Admittedly, the healing process is probably the worst part, and it’s not even that bad. After practicing the aftercare closely for two weeks, Lindsey couldn’t be happier with the way her brows turned out.

The Lip Flip

The “Lip Flip” has become the new big thing in the injectables category lately for people who want a fuller lip, but aren’t committed to getting lip filler just yet. Instead of using dermal filler, Botox is injected into your upper lip to relax the muscle and “flip” your lip upward. This treatment is taking off because it’s less expensive and less painful than your traditional lip filler and it’s something you can try out before committing to full-on lip filler. That being said, the “lip flip” won’t last as long as dermal filler and won’t give the entire lip the volume you might be looking for. It’s a temporary plump to the upper lip that lasts 2-3 months, while dermal filler will fill out your entire lips for about a year. We would recommend consulting with a qualified cosmetic surgeon before getting a lip flip, as it might be better for you to go all in and go the dermal filler route instead–which is what we would recommend after getting both procedures done.

Zoom Face

Yes, “Zoom Face” is a new thing. It’s not “Zoom Fatigue” anymore, and we can thank staring at ourselves during Zoom meetings all day for that. Before the world of Zoom, we never had to actually look at ourselves during meetings. If you’re suffering from “Zoom Face,” you’re not alone, and we have products that can help. Typically, “Zoom Face” concern areas are: the under eyes, crows feet, and forehead wrinkles. Here are highly effective products and devices we have tried and recommend.

  • Sonya Dakar Nutrasphere Organic Omega Booster for Dry & Sensitive Skin Under Eye Balm: Purchase here. You can use this all over your face, but we like targeting our under eyes and crows feet with this product because it nourishes the skin and prevents dryness at the same time, which are leading causes to aging and fatigued eyes. We recommend applying twice a day–once in the morning and once at night for the best results.
  • MYSKINBUDDY Device: Purchase here. MYSKINBUDDY is one device with multiple benefits to combat “Zoom Face.” The first red light gives your skin a deep cleanse, the blue light kills bacteria that leads to acne, the green light helps with redness and inflammation, and the fourth red light is all about anti-aging, which reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and pores.
  • Paula’s Choice Brightening Boosters (or at least that’s what we like to call this combination of powerhouse products that make us look brighter on a Monday morning Zoom call). Paula’s Choice Youth Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid: Purchase here. Paula’s Choice BOOST C15 Super Booster, 15% Vitamin C with Vitamin E & Ferulic Acid, Skin Brightening Serum: Purchase here. Paula’s Choice CLINICAL 1% Retinol Treatment Cream: Purchase here. Paula’s Choice Concentrated Serum: Purchase here

Eufora Style

Last but not least, we have new hair products we can’t believe we ever lived without, especially after we went a year without styling our hair to styling it daily. Eufora’s Blow-Out products have saved us and our hair. Eurfora’s Thermal Defense Prep is the perfect heat-protectant spray to prep your hair before styling with heated products. Simply spray on to wet hair to protect from damage and breakage caused from blow drying and heat styling tools. This prep spray provides thermal protection from tools up to 428°F degrees. Our other favorite Eufora product is the Straightening Balm, which should be applied through damp or towel dried hair to smooth out frizzy, curly, or wavy hair with staying power. You should always change up your hair products to give your hair a “shock” to the system and Eufora is the best way to go.
