You never call, you never write. But you can take your long-suffering mother out for a nice meal at one of these half-dozen restaurants on her special day. Which, BTW, is Sunday, May 13.
Hey, it’s either that or grandchildren.

Café Boulud, 301 Australian Ave., Palm Beach, 561/655-6060. Recently arrived chef Jim Leiken has brought a whole new style and energy to this elegant eatery. For $68 per person ($36 for kids under 10) he’ll put out a brunch buffet with pasta, omelet and carving stations, plus desserts like strawberry-pistachio tartellettes.
Max’s Grille, 404 Plaza Real, Boca Raton, 561/368-0080. Special a la carte brunch and dinner menus will be on tap at this perpetually busy modern American restaurant. Think blueberry-lemon blintzes, Maine lobster Cobb salad and braised short rib. Brunch is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., dinner from 5 p.m. on.
Prime, 110 E. Atlantic Ave., Delray Beach, 561/865-5845. This supper clubby downtown Delray eatery will be dishing a Mom’s Day buffet brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for $36.95 for adults and $15.95 for rugrats. Look for omelet and carving stations, sushi, pasta and the always popular chocolate fountain.
RA Sushi, 11701 Lake Victoria Gardens Ave., Palm Beach Gardens, 561/340-2112. If Mom has a jones for some raw fish or a scene rather less staid than your typical Mother’s Day feast, bring her to the all-day happy hour at this PBG sushi specialist. Thirty-five different items will be priced from $3 to $7, along with a whole roster of adult beverages.
III Forks, 4645 PGA Blvd., Palm Beach Gardens, 561/630-3660. On the other hand, if Mom is a dedicated carnivore, she might like a meal of asparagus soup, bacon-wrapped tenderloin and Mandarin orange cake, among other choices. Hours here are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., with a tariff of $44.95 for adults and $15.95 for kids under 12.
