David Meister, the master designer best known for his form fitting curve-friendly designs, is paying a visit to Boca Raton with his latest collection in tow. He’ll be at Neiman Marcus in Town Center at Boca Raton Oct. 17 from 3-5 p.m.

Meister’s creations on the red carpet have received well-deserved raves from Hollywood celebrities and some of the best names in business. He always bets on fabrics that travel well and is all about the fit.

Best of all, his designs have a decent price point.

Originally from Ohio, Meister now lives in L.A. and has a showroom in Manhattan. Though one of his career choices was to be a brain surgeon, he ended up in th design industry because of his interest in art and fashion.

His first break with Danskin exported him to New York where he mastered the techniques of using the stretch in fabrics to its most flattering advantage that became his signature.

Fast-forward to today— his eponymous label is carried in high-end department stores across the country.

Boca Mag: You’ve used a lot of lace, metallic and sequins in your fall pieces that have ultra feminine form-fitted silhouettes—tell us more.

David Meister: The color palette for fall is rich and opulent –  think black, navy and metallic. Lace is a huge trend along with sequins, ombre and patterns. Metallic fabrics look good on most women [and skin tones].

BM: Three tips for Floridian fashion lovers to dress for the holidays…

DM: Fabrics play an important part in a warmer climate. Avoid heavy fabrics that make you uncomfortable and choose lightweight, stretch fabrics like knit, jersey that fit well and work well through the year.

Invest in the fit. The garment has to fit well.

Holiday dressing can be a lot of fun. Mix it up with contrasting colors—do an emerald shoe with a burgundy dress or printed shoes with a color dress. Go for the glamour, step out of your box and try new things.

BM: Any plans of opening a showroom in Florida like its Manhattan counterpart?

DM: Not on the cards yet because my line is available in major department stores and I always visit for trunk shows and love to help my customers shop.

BM: A common theme in your Spring 2014 collection?

DM: My spring collection has a lot of blush and cosmetic colors, beautiful, straight matt jersey gowns. It’s all about great shapes and softer colors with shots of navy and red. The collection will hit the floors in February 2014.

BM: Your favorite piece of style advice

DM: Feel good and comfortable in what you’re wearing. Being confident is key.

Town Center is located at 5860 Glades Rd. The event is being held in collaboration with the 26th Annual League Luncheon for the Junior League of Boca Raton.
